How Daily Grand works
Each $3 play gets you 5 numbers from 1 to 49 and a Grand Number from 1 to 7. Five numbers and a Grand Number are drawn every Monday and Thursday.
Match all 5 numbers and the Grand Number to win $1,000 a day for life, or take a $7 million lump sum instead. Match all 5 numbers without the Grand Number to win $25,000 a year for life, or a $500,000 lump sum. If there's more than one top-prize winner, the lump sum is shared.
How the life prize is paid
The life prizes are paid for as long as the winner lives, with a guaranteed minimum of 20 years. If the winner dies within the first 20 years, their beneficiary receives the rest of the guaranteed payments, or their value as a lump sum. Lottery winnings aren't taxed in Canada, but part of each life payment can be taxable. Our guide to lottery winnings and tax explains how.
